Discussion JioFiber has been providing refurbished devices (ONT & STB) these days

Since the past few years, Jio has been providing refurbished hardware (ONT/GPON router & STB) for JioFiber connections.

Sometimes these devices are already used enough that they tend to cause problems. However, since Jio has shifted focus to AirFiber, that might be the reason for these refurbished products.

In future, if there's a shortage of products, they may consider to manufacture fresh devices.

Some examples of the same are below.

December 2021 manufactured Jio ONT is provided to customers with January 2025 repackaging with refurbishment.

March 2021 manufactured v1 Jio STB is provided to customers with January 2025 repackaging with refurbishment.

Sometimes these devices are already used enough so they tend to cause problems

This is so true.

They replaced my decent JCOW414 ONT with a refurbished JCOW404 one, and it gets slow quite often, ping spikes randomly all the time. Even the ping to the ONT is never below 1ms.

And yeah, telling them about this does nothing. As long as speed is as per plan on Speed Test, they are not going to replace it.
