It’s been a long time since Reliance Jio has been preparing to commercially launch its 4G LTE services in India. After the soft launch of 4G services in December last year for Reliance employees, it is rumored that the company may finally start its commercial operations by early next month. Ahead of the official launch, we’ve come across leaked video that offered a sneak peek at Reliance Jio website and its data plans.

Now, in another leaked video, we have come across something called ‘ScanBox’ which has be placed in retail stores to ease the activation process. BGR India has seen the boxes installed at multiple retail stores in Delhi.

The video gives us a closer look at the ‘ScanBox’ and its working. For starters, these scan boxes are expected to be available across Reliance Digital retail stores. As we can see in the video, the box has LED lights and a small opening on the top to place the smartphone’s camera. The smartphone has an app that lets the retailers scan and attach files.

Once the retailer clicks photos of the CAF (Customer Acquisition Form) along with photo ID proof, they can directly upload it to Reliance Jio’s servers. Once the details are uploaded, the Reliance Jio connection will be activated within minutes. This is unlike other carriers that take a few hours to activate a new connection.

From what we have learned so far, Reliance Jio has already shipped across the SIM cards to Reliance Digital stores and they are waiting for the final nod to start selling them to customers.

To begin with, the Reliance Jio 4G connection will be offered with LYF-branded smartphones. However, it is not clear if the company plans to introduce standalone SIM cards anytime soon. It also has a portable Wi-Fi JioFi device that can connect to 10 devices simultaneously. Reliance Jio will also offer high bandwidth data plans at extremely low prices.

As per the leaked video of Reliance Jio website, a JioFi Combo plan would offer 90 days validity with 75GB of 4G data, whereas the HD Voice Combo plan would offer the same 90 days validity, 75GB worth 4G data, 9,000 SMS and 4,500 minutes worth talktime. However, the video doesn’t reveal the pricing of these plans.

Apart from offering faster connectivity speeds, Reliance Jio has also started rolling out its digital services. With services such as cloud storage, on-demand music and video streaming, it will help the Reliance Jio differentiate itself from other service providers.

That’s not all; Reliance Digital has also launched its LYF-branded 4K LED smart TVs that run on Android KitKat OS, priced between Rs 65,990 to Rs 199,990. From what we learned earlier, the company may also offer some content-based Live TV and video-on-demand services to take on DTH operators.
