The Reliance Jio 4G service is all set to change the land map of the telecom industry in India but it has been revealed that Reliance Jio has created a parallel economy of its own. The Reliance Jio 4G SIM cards which are available for free are being sold in the black market like hot cakes. Yes, you heard it right! The Reliance Jio SIM card is being sold in the market at prices ranging from Rs 500 to Rs 1000 and the demand has been growing since Thursday after Reliance Industries Limited Chief Managing Director Mukesh Ambani disclosed about the tariff plans of the most awaited service.

The current scenario is completely different, as people who are looking to use the service are approaching black market where they can easily get their hands on the Reliance Jio SIM card. The Reliance Jio connection offers you three months of high-speed free internet services, free calls, free movies, free music, free TV shows and much more.

According to India Today correspondent who went out to a cellphone market in Bengaluru, was informed that there were no SIM’s available. However, another shop gave an inactive SIM and asked for Rs 500. It was clearly written on the SIM, not for sale. It is quite noteworthy that in some areas in Mumbai, especially in Manish market, which is known for supplying telecom goods, vendors are selling Reliance Jio SIM card at Rs 1000. Though the SIM card provided by the black marketers are not registered and the user has to register it from authorised Reliance retailer.

According to reports, experts believe that the Reliance Jio SIM card has sold in the black market across the country including Delhi, Mumbai, Lucknow, Bengaluru, Chennai and much more. After Mukesh Ambani ended his 45-minutes speech at the Annual General Meeting, there was a huge crowd outside several Reliance stores in Mumbai. More than 200-300 people were seen at one store at a time making it a chaotic scene.

Experts believe that even if you buy a SIM card from a vendor you need to register it through authorised Reliance Jio store and there is no guarantee that the SIM may work after it is registered. Due to the high demand, some authorised dealers has asked people to wait. Some dealers who have theJio SIM stock, supposed to be given to the buyers of select phones like Lyf phones, are now selling the SIM cards.

In some Reliance Digital stores, the demand for the Jio SIM cards are so high that the salespersons are asking buyers to come back when they are called. In most cases, the delay is between 4 to 5 days. Even if you get a hand on the SIM cards te activation process may take up to a week.

On Thursday, Mukesh Ambani acknowledged the demand and supply mismatch the company was facing. But said that Reliance has a solution in the form of Aadhaar-based eKYC, which will make the registration and activation of the Jio SIM easier.
