The app's logo and theme colors look extremely ugly in every possible way. Dont even get me started on the font. The logo and its purple-blue theme give off a very cheap, flashy (Chapri) vibe.
That aside, im glad they retained the entire UI/UX of Disney+Hotstar.
However there are many improvements they need to make. Right now, the app looks very messy and needs better organization. I understand they just merged today, so it will take time.
Currently, the old Hotstar content remains untouched, it has been kept as it is with Jiocinema’s content simply added to the app. Indian content still appears somewhat organized within its respective channel sections but international content needs better structuring. English shows and movies should be properly categorized, as they look quite disorganized at the moment. The same goes for anime and kdramas. While Jiocinema’s anime is grouped under Muse, which makes sense, their Hindi dubbed kdramas are not integrated into Hotstar’s korean content.
I hope they create dedicated sections for English, Japanese and Korean content, with subcategories for different studios to properly sort everything.
Additionally they need to introduce playback speed and download options for Jiocinema content.
Coming to the logo and theme, i was hoping they would design something that merges Jio’s circular logo with the Star+ Latam style branding. For example they could create a single line JioHotstar logo, where the J is encircled to represent Jio, and the A in Hotstar is replaced with a star symbol, similar to the Star+ Latam logo. The color scheme should have been more in line with Star+ Latam’s orange and navy blue mix.
The current purple and blue theme feels cheap and unpleasant and the logo and colors are honestly an eyesore.
Although the chances are slim, if someone from the JioHotstar team checks posts from this thread, i hope they take this suggestion into account. I know they probably wont change the logo and colors but i still hope they make some improvements.
