IPL Scam: Sourav Ganguly Joins Justice Mukul Mudgal Probe Panel
Former India captain Sourav Ganguly has been asked to join the Justice Mukul Mudgal probe panel investigating the Indian Premier League corruption case.
Justice Mudgal had wanted a former cricketer of repute on his new panel and Ganguly's name was doing the rounds since the retired judge had submitted a wish list of former players he wanted on his team.
Apart from Ganguly, former India cricketer Mohinder Amarnath's name was also apparently in the fray. But the former Bengal left-handed batsman, who retired from international cricket in 2008 after a sensational Test debut in 1996, was chosen for his integrity and honesty.
Ganguly will now assist Mudgal in his investigations against 13 persons, including former BCCI president N Srinivasan.
The Supreme Court had in May asked the Mudgal commission to continue their probe into the spot fixing allegations despite opposition from the BCCI. The panel will have to submits its findings by August.
