England batsman Owais Shah has been signed up by Rajasthan Royals as a replacement for Shane Warne, who has retired from professional cricket.

Owais Shah represented Kochi Tuskers Kerala in the past IPL season, and played for the Delhi Daredevils and Kolkata Knight Riders before that.

"We are delighted to have signed on Owais Shah to play for the Rajasthan Royals. He is one of the most exciting batsmen in the world and has been particularly outstanding in the shorter forms of the game," Raghu Iyer, CEO, Jaipur IPL Cricket Pvt Ltd, said.

Shane Warne led the Royals to a title victory in the first edition of the IPL, and although he couldn't reproduce the magic in the following editions, he was regarded as one of the finest captains in the tournament. He announced his retirement from professional cricket during the last season of IPL, but came out of retirement to play in the Big Bash League in Australia.

Warne will continue to be involved with the Royals franchise as a mentor.

Adam Gilchrist, skipper of Kings XI Punjab, was entrusted with the added responsibility of coaching the side in the upcoming 5th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The league is set to start on April 5.

In his new role, Gilchrist will shoulder the additional responsibility of mentoring, besides leading the team on the field.

"We believe that the entire coaching and support staff is the best in the business and shall certainly take the team to greater glory," Arvinder added.
