Hi Guys,
We have credible news that the IPL 2023 will be streaming for free on JioCinema. This is going to be huge. Viewers always needed to pay for a subscription, when Star was holding the digital rights. Viacom18, after spending a huge amount to get the digital rights, decided to make the stream free for the viewers, this edition. The revenue will only be from the ads during the match. This decision could potentially cause a disruption on the linear TV viewing. We are not sure if this will be continued for the future editions as well or only for the IPL 2023. We will provide more details as soon as we get them.
