Sunil Gavaskar wasn't writing the column when he was appointed to be the interim president of the BCCI during IPL 2014, also as a commentator, he's employed to BCCI, whereas VVS works for STAR, Conflict of interest comes up when deriving salary/income from more than one sources within BCCI
