Many advertisers find IPL advertising rates for live matches too expensive

Star India has managed to sign 11 sponsors, despite a steep hike in the advertising rates over last year.

Market sources say almost Rs 500 crore worth of ad inventory has been sold as of Wednesday for IPL 11.

During IPL 10, average selling rate on TV was at about Rs 6 lakh per 10 seconds and the incumbent TV rights holder Sony Pictures Network India (SPN) had garnered nearly Rs 1,300 crore

Star India has managed to sign 11 sponsors, despite a steep hike in the advertising rates over last year.

Market sources say almost Rs 500 crore worth of ad inventory has been sold as of Wednesday for IPL 11.

Market sources say the Star India’s asking rates for bundled ad sales (TV and digital) were coming up to Rs 9-10 lakh per 10 seconds effectively.

During IPL 10, average selling rate on TV was at about Rs 6 lakh per 10 seconds and the incumbent TV rights holder Sony Pictures Network India (SPN) had garnered nearly Rs 1,300 crore.
