Australian fast bowler, Shaun Tait has replaced his compatriot John Hastings in the Kolkata Knight Riders squad for the ongoing Indian Premier League. Hastings, who featured in two matches this season for KKR, injured his left ankle.
The 33-year-old pacer was listed at a base price of INR 1.5 crore in the player auction earlier, but he went unsold. KKR will be Tait’s second team in IPL after having represented Rajasthan Royals, which is now suspended.
Earlier this year, Tait was called up to play T20 series against India at home. The pacer then failed to earn the ticket for the World T20 in March. Tait was seen in action in the inaugural edition of Pakistan Super League in February. He played for Peshawar Zalmi under Shahid Afridi’s captaincy.
It will be interesting to see whether Tait gets a game straight away or not. Knight Riders, currently placed third on the points table, now take on Rising Pune Supergiants on Saturday, May 14.
