Intex has launched a budget smartphone called Cloud Tread, which is the company’s latest addition to its ‘Cloud’ series. The smartphone is priced at Rs 4,999, and will be exclusively available via Snapdeal starting August 30. The company is opting for the flash sale model, and registrations for the first flash sale on August 30 at 12:00PM have already kick started on the e-commerce site. Being a flash sale, there is likely to be limited units available, and registrations is a must.

One of the talking points of the new Intex Cloud Tread is the processor under the hood. While the Snapdeal listing doesn’t reveal which exact processor powers the smartphone, it is quite unusual to see a smartphone in this range with a hexa-core processor. The closest smartphone to the Cloud Tread is the popular Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, which at Rs 9,999, is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 650 hexa-core processor.

Intex Cloud Tread specifications

The Intex Cloud Tread features a 5-inch HD 720p display, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, and a 5-megapixel camera at the back as well as the front. The smartphone also features a 2,200mAh battery, and connectivity options like dual-SIM card slots, 3G support, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. On the software front, it runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop.

The Intex Cloud Tread priced at Rs 4,999 will face competition from the likes of the
Micromax Bolt Selfie and Reliance Digital LYF Flame 5 that are priced at Rs 4,999 and Rs 3,999 respectively. Both these smartphones support 4G, which is something missing on the Intex Cloud Tread.

The Micromax Blot Selfie comes with a 5-megapixel camera up front along with LED flash. There is a 5-megapixel snapper at the back as well. It features a 4.5-inch FWVGA display, 1GHz MT6735 quad-core processor paired with 1GB of RAM. There is 8GB storage onboard, which can be further expanded using a microSD card. The Bolt Selfie is equipped with a 1,750mAh battery, 4G LTE, dual-SIM card slots, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and on the software front, it runs on Android Lollipop 5.1.

Reliance Digital LYF Flame 5 , on the other hand, features a 4-inch WVGA display, 1.5GHz quad-core processor paired, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal memory expandable up to 32GB. It sports a 5-megapixel camera and a 2-megapixel selfie camera. It supports 4G and VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and USB connectivity. The device is equipped with 1,650mAh battery and runs Android 5.1 Lollipop.
