After the recently-launched Firefox smartphonein the low-end segment, Intex has now announced the Aqua T2 priced at Rs 2,699. Interestingly, it is the cheapest Android Kitkat-based smartphone, yet.

Considering the low price-tag, it’s not surprising that this dual-SIM smartphone is also very thin on features. It sports a 3.5-inch IPS display with a resolution of 340 x 480 pixels.

It is powered by a 1.3GHz dual-core Mediatek processor and 256MB RAM, which should be just enough to get you through basic smartphone functions.

On the camera front, it gets a 2MP rear snapper with support for panorama, HDR and continuous shots. Connectivity options include Bluetooth 4.0 and Wi-Fi.

Android KitKat alone won’t work wonders as the other specs seem too mediocre. The 256MB RAM and 512MB internal memory would mean the device will struggle to run different apps.

Luckily you can at least save photos and music with an external memory card, though you might not be able to download many apps.

A 1200mAh battery completes this budget package.

Commenting on the launch, Sanjay Kumar Kalirona, Mobile Business Head, Intex Technologies said, “Our latest offering in the Aqua collection – The T2 is a technology front runner available at an amazing price point. Amongst all handsets offering 4.4 Kitkat OS today, this one is definitely the lowest in the price segment and it comes with a 3.5 inch screen coupled with a 2G network.

We are delighted to partner with e-commerce giant Flipkart and hope to further our association with more such innovative and best priced devices in the coming future.”

Following the current trend of exclusive tie-ups, the device will be available only via Flipkart. It will be available in black and grey colour options.

Expressing his views on the partnership, Ankit Nagori, Senior Vice President, Flipkart said, “We are excited to bring Intex’s latest phone to our customers. Being a fully loaded, KitKat enabled phone we are sure it will be a hit with our value conscious customers. “
