In India, smartphone users go without balance for 7.5 days a month on an average on their prepaid plan, a survey by True Balance revealed on Wednesday. Users tend to recharge their pre-paid balance most on Thursdays around 8 PM, the survey said.

Mobile prepaid services are being used by about 200 million smartphone users in India. The survey highlighted that in September, zero balance day was the highest in Mumbai with 9.4 days, followed by Delhi, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka with 8.9 days, 8.6 days, and 8.4 days, respectively.

The study findings suggest that users frequently recharged their balance on Wednesday and Monday. Also, most of the phone calls and data usage occurred after work hours from late afternoon to evening.

"As the number of smartphone users increases in India, we can see unique usage patterns by time and by region," said Cheol-won Lee, CEO of Balance Hero. "We will continue to upgrade our services through analyzing these patterns on True Balance so that our users can efficiently manage call times and data usage."

Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai and Karnataka emerged as regions where users opted for high one-time recharge amount. Chennai topped the list with a one-time charging amount of Rs 182.24 on average, followed by Kolkata with Rs 172.77 and Rajasthan with Rs 163.69.

True Balance is an app for users to track and recharge the balance of their prepaid mobile phones.
