The biggest requirement for the Indian cricket team coach is to be friendly with star players and let them do whatever they wish to do.Anil Kumble learnt it hard way even though he was himself part of Indian cricket for such a long time.Can any professional coach will tolerate his star player fit for IPL and then taking rest?No matter what is contribution of Rohit Sharma in Indian cricket he did set up a bad example by playing IPL finals and suddenly becoming unavailable.
Anyway Indian cricket has history of rift between big personality coaches and big ego star players.Chappell,Anil Kumble all were casualty of this war.With 0 coaching experience the likes of Shastri,Kapil Dev etc were made head coaches either due to their stature as player or due to history of getting on with star players.

I disagree with Vihari-Jadeja swap. Vihari has all the things to be a good test player, like Pujara and Dravid. He has played brilliantly too, and I don't think the team management will drop him either after one bad match..
