Sony is far better when it comes to Sports not just "cricket" whereas Star only cares about cricket so that's not surprising that they are better at it!....
Babu, we live in a country like India. Not everyone including me has broadband at at home. If someone prefers to watch a whole match. They can. It was a treat watching full length classic matches during the lockdown.
Also I hated Sony in general during first few seasons of IPL as we didn't got to watch highlights after the season had ended at all. Atleast Star started airing them after buying CLT20 rights.
Worse is when they do production. I was getting seizures watching horrible camera angles watching India's Tour of West Indies. They missed important shots while panning on random crowd.

My dear you get Premiere League, Major League Baseball, ONE Championship, F1 Racing, US Open, French Open, Wimbledon, Badminton and niche Golf tournaments as well. Even tomorrow morning you get to watch England tour of South Africa on Star Sports. What else you want?

Every time some board auctions their rights ,I just pray sony doesn't win them. Watching a live match on sony is too horrible.
All they care about is ads. It's not about lacking in technical prowess to cover the match. Its about priorities and they put ad revenue above the viewer satisfaction. It feels like watching a match in between the ads and not the other way around.
Whatever few sports Star covers, cricket ,kabaddi , badminton and tennis are the ones that i follow they atleast take into account the viewer satisfaction.
