In Melbourne food outside hotel is allowed, but the restaurant should be open Air and not indoor which appears to be in this case from pics on twitter....
Also it got complicated when a fan claimed that he had hugged a player and later retracted....
Though I am fully aware how incompetent Ravi Shastri is, you can't blame coach as we are talking about 5 adults making conscious decision, coach/captain can’t do policing of 30 odd players 24/7.....

It's not about policing.Ground rules are set up for squad whenever they are travelling.Either the 5 players were completely oblivion to the rules or they just didn't bothered because the VC was with them.Anyway Indian cricketers have history of such incidents especially before some professionalism was instilled.I still remember Kambli being in the news for partying whole night & getting drunk to the state of wasted on his 1st overseas tour in Australia 1991-92.

Looks like fear of losing... Don't want full strength Indian side to play.Trying to make it an issue..
BCCI should step in and pull out of the series.. So that we retain the series.
