RE: India tour of Australia 2011
Australia tightens grip on India
Australia claimed the prized wicket of Sachin Tendulkar on the third morning as it tightened its grip on the fourth and final test against India at the Adelaide Oval.
Fast bowler Peter Siddle (3—29) picked up Tendulkar and opener Gautham Gambhir in the space of nine balls as India slumped to 122—5 at lunch on Thursday, still needing 282 runs to avoid following on.
Tendulkar was out for 25, again failing to score his 100th international century. He has now gone 21 innings without a test hundred his longest drought in a 188—test career.
Tendulkar started the day positively, flicking swing bowler Ben Hilfenhaus to the square leg boundary, raising the hopes of Indian fans among a packed Oval crowd on the Australia Day national holiday.
Siddle was running in bowling at pace on a disconcerting line just outside off stump, and was rewarded when he induced Tendulkar to play at that line, edging the ball to second slip Ricky Ponting, who snared a low catch falling forward.
