Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on
Saturday announced a 14-man squad for the
upcoming ODI series against West Indies.
Bowler Kuldeep Yadav, who has had an
impressive Champions League T20 campaign,
is the only new face in the squad for the first
three ODIs.
The major changes in the squad came in the
spin department, with R Ashwin rested, and
legspinner Amit Mishra returning.
Squad: MS Dhoni (capt & wk), Shikhar Dhawan,
Ajinkya Rahane, Virat Kohli, Ambati Rayudu,
Suresh Raina, Ravindra Jadeja, Amit Mishra,
Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Shami, Mohit
Sharma, Umesh Yadav, M Vijay, Kuldeep Yadav
This is India's last home series before the ICC
World Cup 2015 and presents an opportunity to
get a few things right.
Rohit Sharma is out of the side due to injury,
but Ajinkya Rahane who filled in the void quite
well in England may continue to open the
batting.
Virat Kohli places himself at No 3 despite
recent concerns with form. He will use this
series to get back into his groove.
Ambati Rayudu holds on to his spot after an
impressive outing in England while Suresh
Raina will be crucial to India's plans. Ravindra
Jadeja will also play a key role in the team as
an all-rounder, so also the fast-bowlers,
Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammed Shami.
The first ODI of the five-match series against
the West Indies will be held in Kochi on
October 8, followed by games in New Delhi on
October 11 and Vishakhapatna on October 14.
The last two matches of the series will be
played in Dharamshala (October 17) and
Kolkata (October 20).
