Idea Cellular , India’s third largest telco will soon be launching its 4G services in Mumbai, according to reports. After 6 years of introducing 3G services in the city, the operator is planning to extend its 4G services in Mumbai soon.

A message sent by Idea Cellular to its customers read “Idea 4G is coming soon! Idea is delighted to announce that our 4G services will be launched shortly. Get ready for better and faster 4G experience,” suggesting the 4G launch is in the pipeline and will be introduced shortly. However, the telco has not given any specific timeline for the same.

The company had previously launched its 4G services in Uttar Pradesh ( UP East ) which includes Kanpur and Lucknow. Other towns of
UP East will be receiving the services by March 2017 where Allahabad and Varanasi will get it by the end of this month.

According to other recent reports, Idea is offering 10GB of 3G/4G data for Rs. 256 to selected customers. The telco will allow selected customers opting for this plan to recharge three times till March 31, 2017 to avail 10 GB data with data validity of 28 days.

Idea had also recently launched its digital services starting with a set of 3 apps namely Idea Music Lounge, Idea Movie Club, and Idea Game Spark which would be competing against Jio and Wynk apps.

The telco is currently holding all share-merger talks with Vodafone, India’s second largest telecom operator. However, the Vodafone-Idea Cellular merged entity would need to dispose off nearly 18,000 crore of excess spectrum for the mega consolidation deal to clear anti-trust hurdles.
