Idea Cellular reports net profit at Rs274.5 crore in Q4 FY11

Telecom service provider Idea Cellular today reported a 12.9% jump in its consolidated net profit at Rs274.5 crore in the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2011 as against Rs243 crore the year ago-period.

The Aditya Birla Group telecom operator's revenue stood at Rs4,234.7 crore during the March quarter as against Rs3,955.56 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal.

The total EBITDA stood at Rs1,075.2 crore in quarter four as against Rs9,482 crore during the same period last year.

For the full year ended March 31, 2011, Idea Cellular's net profit stood Rs898.7 crore, as against Rs953.9 crore in fiscal year 2010. Its revenue stood at Rs15,503.2 crore in FY 11 as compared to Rs12,447 crore in fiscal year 2010.

The telecom operator carried 362.6 billion minutes on its network during FY11, placing it among the top 10 operators in the world in voice minutes, the company said in a statement.

The company has rolled out its 3G services in the service areas of Maharashtra & Goa, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh (West) and Uttaranchal, Uttar Pradesh (East), Haryana and Himachal Pradesh.

Additionally, Idea subscribers would very soon be able to enjoy 3G services, across India, through a combination of home network and roaming arrangements, with select leading quality operators, it said.
