Idea Cellular adds a maximum of 7.43 mln subscribers in November

Aditya Birla group’s Idea Cellular added a maximum number of 7.43 million subscribers, while India’s top carrier Bharti Airtel gained only 1.08 million net subscribers in November 2016, an industry group Cellular Operators Association of India ( COAI) Monday said.

With 0.89 million customer additions, UK-based Vodafone reached to a No 3 spot in the month of November, according to the GSM group.
Bharti Airtel maintained its leadership position and its customer base surged to 263.35 million with 32.84% market share.

UK-based Vodafone’s Indian arm had 202.79 million subscribers, followed by Aditya Birla group’s Idea Cellular with 187.68 million consumers in November 2016, COAI added.
Net subscriber additions grew from 2.09 million in August to 10.18 million in November, with a total GSM subscriber base reaching to 801.81 million in the country.

“The telecom industry has again posted a good growth for the month of November 2016. It is heartening to see that the industry is showing signs of a robust growth and we have again moved ahead in ensuring complete connectivity at all levels,” Rajan S Mathews , Director General, COAI said.
