The theory for 2nd spot might be like this

NZ win all grp matches they will finish First

Ind bt Pak & bang and loss to aus
Aus bt Ind & bang and loss to Pak

Then India, Pakistan, Australia all have 4 pts each than NRR will play the game

So we need a big win either over bang or pak

India is already far behind PAK and Aus by Net Run Rate.So going by your prediction,India would need to win at least two games by big margins.
