Guptill was involved in almost all the key moments in this WC.
1. Dhoni's run out.
2. 4 overthrows by hitting Stokes's bat when 9 runs were needed of 3 balls.
3. Final ball of the Super over, where he himself got run out.
If Boult caught that clean, Stokes would have been gone and New Zealand could have sealed it. Likewise, there were lot of Ifs and buts in this game, and marginally better team won. We can debate a lot about those rules and all, but they existed since long and were not defined for this particular match. So, nothing can be done about them!
Both teams were brilliant yesterday. New Zealand just didn't have that piece of luck to carry the World Cup home and England did. Since it's the 1st World Cup for any team winning, it's a good result in the end! Best ODI match ever IMO! Congrats to England and I hope this win will revive the country's cricket!
A phenomenal World Cup, despite having so many rain interrupted games! It was England's loss against Sri Lanka, that made the WC interesting and it's fitting that they won it!
