Dhoni is not a beginner to learn lessons. His innings that day was beyond reason, that too against Afghanistan. It's not as if Afghanistan was bowling exceptional and not even allowing singles. There's no need take any risk to score at 80-90 strike rate, the expectation was not for Dhoni to play like Hardik Pandya, he just had to rotate strike. Scoring 10 runs between 40-45 overs and saying it's a Team game is very funny!!! Even Sachin agrees that this partnership lacked intent. Probably Dhoni himself will also agree if questioned.

I had already put my view point above and don't want to justify things . Its a team game and nobody wants to waste balls and get out. As I said in cricket there are many things to assess including the pitch, conditions, toss and so on. Dhoni's wicket keeping along with its unofficial inputs have assisted the team many times. I had already told the middle order is not as reliant as the top order. Remove Dhoni from there and you will see what happens with middle order. It was only one game and Dhoni's and Kedar partnership took to 224 and we won by 11 runs. There are 10 other players in the team also who have to do consistently well so that team won the world cup. By the way middle order is not dhoni only It consists of Kedar Shankar also.

Pitch LOL, par score on that pitch was 290. Looks like you didn't watch the match ball to ball. Dhoni was hitting Rashid Khan's short balls straight into the hands of the fielders allowing him to bowl maiden overs with nothing balls. I also support Dhoni when he plays well, but come on, it was one of his worst innings and Dhoni himself can't justify it. Read that Cricinfo article, as soon as Dhoni got out, their score prediction went up by 3 runs If it wasn't for Afghanistan's inexperience, it was a sure shot humiliation. If it was any other team, it was a sure shot loss.
