SAN FRANCISCO—HTC Corp. has used patents obtained from Google Inc. to sue Apple Inc. for infringement, a move that escalates an intellectual property arms race centered on Google's Android mobile software.
In an amended complaint filed on Tuesday in a Delaware court, HTC said Apple has infringed on eight U.S. patents related to wireless communications and mobile phone displays.
Five of those patents were assigned to HTC from Google last week, according to documents filed with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
An original complaint filed in the case in August made use of three patents not associated with Google.
