HTC has launched a new smartphone in
its Butterfly range, the J Butterfly (HTV31
in Japan. The smartphone is now listed
on the company's Japanese site as well
as mobile carrier KDDI's website .
There is no word on pricing of the HTC J
Butterfly (HTV31); though the company
has confirmed that it will be released
sometime in summer and will be
available in Japan. There is no word on
global release of the J Butterfly
smartphone yet, but it is expected to be
released as the HTC Butterfly 3, following
the naming convention of previous
iterations .
The HTC J Butterfly (HTV31) runs Androi
5.0 Lollipop, much like HTC's 2015
flagship, the One M9 . The smartphone
sports a 5.2-inch QHD (1440x2560
pixels) Super LCD3 display and is a
water and dust resistant device with
IPX5/ IPX7 and IP5X certification.
The J Butterfly (HTV31), much like the
One M9, runs on 64-bit octa-core
Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 MSM8994
(quad-core 2GHz + quad-core 1.5GHz)
SoC coupled with 3GB of RAM. The
smartphone comes with 32GB built-in
storage and supports expandable
storage via microSD card (up to 200GB).
It sports a 20.2-megapixel rear camera
with dual-LED flash, while it also houses
a 13-megapixel front-facing camera.
Notably, the HTC J Butterfly (HTV31) als
sports the dual rear camera setup, first
seen on the 2014 flagship handset.
The smartphone supports LTE
connectivity (Japan's 4G LTE bands)
apart from Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS/ A-GPS
GPRS/ EDGE and 3G connectivity
options. The HTC J Butterfly (HTV31)
comes with a 2700mAh battery, which is
same as the one found on HTC J
Butterfly launched last year. The
Taiwanese company notes that the HTC
Butterfly (HTV31) features quick chargin
It measures 151x73x10.7mm and
weighs 162 grams.
