HTC has launched its 3D smartphone – HTC Evo 3D – in India today, and it will be available across HTC stores in the country at a market operating price of Rs. 35,990. A glasses-free 3D or autostereoscopic offering like the LG Optimus 3D, HTC has evidently taken a hint from LG’s pricing in India, undercutting the earlier entrant by a little over a grand.
There are plenty of differences on paper between the two 3D devices from HTC and LG, such as the Evo 3D’s 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon S3 processor and Adreno 220 GPU instead of Optimus 3D’s 1GHz dual core ARM Cortex A9 processor, with PowerVR SGX540 GPU, on the TI OMAP4430 chipset.
Other differences between the two include more memory, at 1GB of RAM compared to 512MB, and, a higher resolution display, measuring in at 540x960 pixels, compared to the LG Optimus 3D’s 480x800 display. The Evo 3D also comes with Gingerbread onboard, while the Optimus 3D ships with Froyo still (upgradeable to Gingerbread). The Evo 3D also has FM radio connectivity, unlike the Optimus 3D. Both devices come with document editors.
