Nimbuzz, the instant messaging client, has today launched a caller identification app called “Holaa!” The app, whose functionality resembles TrueCaller aims to help users identify the person calling them, their location, as well as help them avoid spam calls.Holaa! has been developed entirely in India, the company said. A team of 13 developers worked together to make the call management platform. The feature it is offering is the same offered by TrueCaller, the giant in the call management space. Much like TrueCaller, Holaa! is also tapping into crowd-sourced data. The app will search user’s phonebook first to see if the caller’s number is saved there, in case it isn’t, it checks if the number is registered with the service. In case any existing user has marked that number as spam, the service will notify the person receiving the call about it being spam.

Among other features, the service is also giving a one-click option to share both phonebook contacts and unknown contacts with their friends. The service as of now supports English, French, Spanish, Arabic, Persian and Portuguese and is only available on Android. The service will be competing with TrueCaller, which has over 85 million users worldwide. The international crowdsourced telephone directory gives users information about the contact numbers from their phone as well as its own database. It also helps its users by alerting them of spammers and sales people. The service launched Truedialer last month, a phone dialer app. The app looks into your phonebook and its database to provide information about the number you are about to dial as you are typing it.

You can head over to the Google Play Store to download Holaa!
