Apple’s new iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus are now available in select countries, and the first line of reviews are also out. While it isn’t officially mentioned, a recent YouTube video shows that the new iPhones are secretly waterproof. The iFixit team has managed to find the secret behind the new iPhone’s water resistant capabilities.

One of the videos we came across showed the iPhones were able to survive in a bowl full of water for over an hour. The team found that the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus are equipped with a new gasket around its sides to make them resistant to liquid damage compared to the earlier iPhones. That’s not all, the phone’s logic board and connector too are encased in waterproofing material.

The main focus of most water-resistant phones out there is to protect the external parts, rather than focusing on internal components. Considering that the logic board includes most of the sensitive electronics components, Apple’s waterproofing solution is pretty clever. While the new iPhones are not completely waterproof, there are a lot of videos online showing the iPhone 6s models surviving the water test.

The new iPhones are expected to go on sale in India starting October 16, and will be sold across 2,500 stores by Ingram Micro and Beetel via its 3,500 retail stores. The new iPhones are already up for pre-booking for Rs 2,000 at The MobileStore and other retail chains. While there is no official word, reports claim that prices for the new iPhones are likely to start from Rs 62,000.
