Android fans can rejoice as Google is finally planning an aggressive entry with the Moto G in the region.

Google’s smart and affordable smartphone, the Moto G, is finally coming to the region as the company has panned the official launch here in Dubai on January 20.

The Dubai event is being held two days ahead of a similar event in Saudi Arabia, as the company plans an aggressive campaign to attract customers in the region.

Moto G has a 4.5” screen with a 720P HD display and is powered by a quad 1.2GHz processor and 1 GB RAM, a 5MP rear and 1.5 MP front camera and comes with 16 or 32 GB storage options. It has a 070 mAh kethium battery and can run for up to 24 hours.

The most impressive part of the Moto G is the OS. Google has been pushing the latest Android Kitkat 4.2.2 onto the Moto G.

The device runs basic Android making it easy for Google to push any latest OS upgrades compared to other Androidphones by Samsung, LG or Sony Mobile.

Google acquired Motorola Mobility in 2012 and this will be the company’s first major launch event of the Motorola brand in the region.

No details are available about the pricing and when the device will hit the stores in the UAE. The prices are not expected to change much from $179 (around Dh657) for the 16 GB edition and $199 (Dh730) for the 32GB edition.

Google has already announced that the MOTO G will start selling in India and other markets from January, thereby indicating that the Moto G could go on sale in Dubai and the rest of the country from January 20 itself.

Google on Wednesday launched the Moto G on the Google Play in the US market.
