Today we are launching Google News performance reporting to help news publishers better understand user behavior on Google News on our Android and iOS apps, as well as on news.google.com.
The report will include metrics like impressions, clicks, and click-through rate (CTR) that will help publishers answer questions like:
How many times have my articles appeared to users in Google News?
In 2018, we first introduced the Full Coverage feature as part of Google News. With just a tap, people can see top news, local headlines, in-depth pieces, explainers, interviews and more on a developing news story. We’re now bringing Full Coverage to Search, making it easier for more people to explore all aspects of a story from a variety of perspectives.
When you’re searching for information on a timely topic, you see a carousel of articles at the top of your Search results highlighting relevant news. Now for big, developing news stories, you can tap into a Full Coverage page after scrolling to the end of the top stories carousel or by selecting “More news on...” right below the carousel.
We’ve added a Homescreen Widget for the gNews iOS app that displays articles from your daily briefing. The Widget is available in small, medium, large sizes, and tapping on an article opens it within the app.
The widget provides quickly glanceable headlines that are updated by the app throughout the day. This is only available on iOS 14 and up and will launch in all countries the News app is available.
