BANGALORE: In an attempt to make internet a more friendly and safe experience, Google is offering safety and good-to-know tips on its website, including in Hindi and other Indian languages. These tips - available online at www.google.com/goodtoknow- include information on companies track and use personal information - including by Google.

" Everyone wants to stay safe online, so we're making the campaign available in dozens more languages-about 30 today, and an additional 30 in the coming weeks," Google said in a statement. The tips will be available in Gujarati, Tamil and Telugu as well.

The search engine giant had come under severe criticism when it tweaked its online privacy policy earlier this year. Under the new policy Google said it would share user information across all its platforms and services - such as search, social networking, photo and sharing.

"You'll be able to learn about how to protect yourself online, gain insight into how your data is used on Google and around the web, and get tips on managing your family's online experience," the statement said.

For example, users can find out how to choose a strong password, recognize a phishing scam or learn out to double the safety of their online user accounts using different verification methods.
