Google has updated its app for iOS with new features including the addition of the incognito mode. Incognito mode, also known as Private Browsing, InPrivate Browsing or simple Private browsing is designed for users to browse the internet without locally storing any data. The browser does not save history or web cache in this mode in addition to disabling storage of cookies and Flash cookies.

This update works for the people who prefer the Google app instead of Google Chrome and don’t want to use browsers. It also introduces inline YouTube videos where you can watch the videos in the search results without the need to open a new tab or switching to YouTube app.

However, the most significant portion of the update is the introduction of an additional layer of protection to enhance privacy. Now you can turn on the Touch ID authentication for the incognito mode where only you can enter your existing incognito session. The app also adds the ability to launch incognito mode session directly from the 3D Touch shortcut on Google app icon as reported by TechCrunch . The incognito mode comes with a dark window theme and can be launched by tapping your photo on the main screen when you launch Google app on your iPhone or iPad.

Incognito mode was first introduced in Safari 2.0 by Apple in 2005 and later adopted by all other major browsers like Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, Amazon Silk and more recently Microsoft Edge. Last but not the least, the latest update improves the stability of the app by reducing the crashes by almost 50 percent according to the announcement on Google Search blog post .
