when you use the cast button on youtube app. The video plays on the device youtube app. without the app it can't play.
I've tried if youtube isn't installed then you can't cast using the youtube cast button even if it's on the same wifi. However, you can use the miracast feature.

It says "link with Wi-Fi" you link your android app with the device app.

To get started make sure your phone, tablet, or computer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your TV device, select Cast on your phone, tablet, or computer.

Note that Cast works with any TV device that can support the YouTube experience on TV, not just Chromecast.

Let's see once the app is removed from Fire Stick!! Chromecast does not have any apps but we are able to cast from mobile. It should work similarly for any miracast enabled devices I think. Anyway, we will see.
