The controversy arose when the animal rights NGO People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) moved in Bombay High Court seeking for rehabilitation of the elephant which was housed in the Jain Mutt in the village of Nandini in Shirol taluka of Kolhapur district. Nandini is seat of the centuries old Jain Mutt and also is the seat of the Bhattaraka Sri Jinasena Swamiji. Bhattarakhas are religious heads of Digambar Jain institutions and as per the mutt, they have had an elephant for the last 600 years. The elephant, the locals claimed, was a favourite and was essential for religious processions and rites of the Mutt.

On Friday, senior officials of Vantara, a state of the art Animal Rescue Center run by Reliance Industries and Reliance Foundation met the guardian minister of Kolhapur and Maharashtra’s health minister Prakash Abitkar to discuss the possible return of the elephant Mahadevi/Madhuri. This comes even as the controversy over the elephant took the district by storm with people from the Shirol taluka even porting their JIO mobile connections. A look at the controversy and the possible way forward.

I've a question about Jio recharge since Jio removed data from the affordable annual plan. It now costs 3599 with data, but I don't need 2.5GB/day data. So, if I recharge with Rs. 1748 that gives voice only for 336 days, and for data if I recharge with Rs. 100 every 90 days (Hotstar included for 90 days with 5GB data). Will it work or not?

1. After porting to Jio, is it mandatory to first recharge with a specific plan (like one with 28 or 56 days or 84 days validity) as suggested by the company, and only then switch to a plan of our choice once that validity ends??? Or can we directly choose any plan we want right after porting???
And
2. Does Jio still charge an additional ₹99 for the Jio Prime membership, or is that fee now included in the plan we choose after porting????

It will work. It has stand alone validity of 90 days. That way it will cost you ₹179 every month. ₹189 for 28 days is better option if you don't want Hotstar.
