During the third ODI, James Faulkner tried to rile up India’s Virat Kohli

While the stump microphones failed to pick up what Faulkner said, they sure did pick Kohli’s reply.

Kohli said: “You’re wasting your energy. There’s no point, I’ve smashed you enough in my life. Just go and bowl,”

India to get full-time coach after World T20: Anurag Thakur

Anurag Thakur, BCCI secretary, has announced that the Indian cricket team will have a full-time coach after the ICC World Twenty20, as recommended by the high-profile advisory committee comprising Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman and Sourav Ganguly.

Thakur also backed the under-fire skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, as the team slumped to three back-to-back defeats in the ongoing five-match One-Day International series in Australia.

"There has been a demand for a full-time coach for a long time. We had decided that Ravi Shastri will be the Team Director till the World T20. We do not want to do anything between the season but we also need to decide on the future. We will be playing 13 Tests next season. Like a team is selected series to series, we need to have full-time coach," Thakur said on the sidelines of an ICC promotional event in New Delhi on Monday (January 18).

Thakur refused to comment on whether the BCCI would continue with Shastri but hinted that the former India all-rounder could also be considered for the full-time opportunity. "The decision will be taken in consultation with the Advisory Committee (Tendulkar, Laxman and Ganguly). We might decide on a coach even before the World T20 but the proper announcement will only happen post tournament," the BCCI secretary said.

Thakur came out in strong support of skipper MS Dhoni despite India's meek 3-0 surrender in the ongoing ODI series.

"Mahendra Singh Dhoni is India's most successful captain. Under him we have won two World titles in 2007 and 2011. He has been a consistent captain for last eight years. Just because of one disappointing series, it is unfair to blame him," the secretary said, firmly backing the limited-overs captain.

"Obviously, the team management and the selection committee members are discussing as to what went wrong and what corrective measures need to be taken before the T20 Asia Cup and the World T20," Thakur added.

Asked about what can be expected of the senior players like Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh and Ashish Nehra who are a part of the T20 squad, Thakur was cautious."Let them go and play. I am sure they would also want their performance to do the talking," he concluded.

I Think Dhoni will be the Coach :lol

India will have a chance to climb to
No. 1 ICC Twenty20 International
ranking when they take on Australia
in the three-match series, starting
from Tuesday (January 26).
India will play their three games
against the hosts in Adelaide,
Melbourne and Sydney and will have
to win the series 3-0 to climb to the
top spot. Australia too have a chance
to climb to No. 1 and will need to win
the series 2-1.
India are currently ranked No. 8 with
110 points and a 3-0 win will take
them to 120 points, two points clear
of West Indies, who are currently the
top ranked T20I side in the world.
After their impressive 2-1 series win
at home over Pakistan, New Zealand
have climbed to the fifth spot ahead
of South Africa and Pakistan. Kane
Williamson, who was leading the
side in place of Brendon McCullum,
too had an impressive series and
scored 175 runs in the three games.
His performance helped him break
into the top 10 for the first time and
he now holds the sixth spot in the
ICC T20I batsmen ranking, with Aaron
Finch occupying the top spot.
Zimbabwe's series-leveling 2-2 win
in Bangladesh has cost the hosts
who slipped to the 11th position
behind Scotland and Afghanistan.
Hamilton Masakadza's unbeaten 58-
ball 93, that helped Zimbabwe
register an 18-run win in the final
game, took him to the eighth spot in
the batsman's list, just behind Chris
Gayle.
Meanwhile, in the ICC rankings for
One-Day Internationals, India
currently occupy the second spot
and need to win the fifth and final
ODI against Australia to hold that
spot. A 5-0 loss, however, will push
them to the third rank India aim No. 1 ICC Twenty20 International ranking - Cricbuzz

Aaron Finch, Australia's Twenty20
International skipper, has suffered a
moderate grade hamstring during the
second T20I against India at the
Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) and
won't be requiring to undergo a
surgery.

Aaron had scans on his injured left
hamstring that confirmed a moderate
grade hamstring injury. This is not a
recurrence of the previous hamstring
injury that required surgery in April
2015," Cricket Australia (CA) confirmed
in a press release on Monday (February
1).
Although this current injury doesnt
require surgery there is a period of
rehabilitation required before he can
resume playing," the statement read.
Even as they have given a
confirmation on how long it will take
for Finch to recover from his injury, the
board is expecting him to be fit for the
upcoming T20 WC to be played in India
in March. No surgery required for Finch's hamstring injury - Cricbuzz
