Former Railway Cricketer Bistu Sanyal passes away - Latest Cricket News

Kolkata: Former Railway spinner Bistu Sanyal has passed away at the age of 65. Condoling his demise, the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) in a statement said Sanyal was a left arm orthodox spinner and represented Taltala Institute for eight years. Sanyal, who died yesterday, also played for Eastern railway for more than a decade. “We convey our condolence to the bereaved family,” the CAB said.

Among other players to have represented Taltala institute in cricket is Ajit Chandila who is now banned from cricket owing to match-fixing allegations. Chandila has played two First-Class games for Haryana and represented Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League (IPL) where he was accused alongside S Sreesanth and Ankeet Chavan of spot fixing allegations. He was arrested for the alleged offence but recently the court ruled the trio not guilty owing to insufficient evidence against them. BCCI has remained firm though and have not allowed them back into the foray.

In the two games he played for Haryana in the Ranji Trophy he picked three wickets at an average of 22.66 and scored 23 runs. The figures were not that impressive but he did well in his IPL stint with the Rahul Dravid-led Rajasthan site and could have made a future for himself from there but as of now it looks like a dead end for them.
