ICC appoints Air Asia India’s Ankur Khanna as CFO

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has appointed Ankur Khanna to the post of chief financial officer.

Leaving Air Asia India where he has held the post of CFO for the last 12 months, Khanna will join the ICC at the end of March.

Prior to Air Asia India, Khanna worked in senior roles at Air France / KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and ITC, an associate company of British American Tobacco.

Said ICC chief executive David Richardson, “I am delighted to welcome someone of Ankur’s pedigree to the ICC. His CV is outstanding, having provided leadership to culturally diverse teams in a number of multi-national roles. He has a proven track record and will make a positive contribution to our senior team.”

Khanna, who will relocate from Bangalore to the ICC headquarters in Dubai, said: “This is such an exciting opportunity for me both as a professional and as a huge cricket fan. I am looking forward to joining the team in Dubai and bring my experience to benefit the ICC and the rest of the sport around the world.”

Shaun Tait Becomes Overseas Citizen of India

New Delhi: Australian fast bowler Shaun Tait, who is married to an Indian model, has officially become an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI).
The 34-year-old Tait posted a picture of his OCI passport on Twitter to reveal his status.
The tearaway pacer, who had clocked the second fastest delivery in the history of the game at a speed of 161.1 kph in 2010, got married to Indian model Mashoom Singha in June 2014.

Shaharyar Khan to step down as PCB chief in August

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Shaharyar Khan today said that he would step down from his post in August after completing his three-year term. “I have today conveyed to the members of the Board of Governors that I will step down on 18th August on completion of my term and I will not be contesting for another term as chairman or in any other capacity in the Board,” the 83-year old Shaharyar said.

New Zealand’s World Cup hero Grant Elliott quits internationals

The all-rounder joins New Zealand internationals Colin de Grandhomme and Jeetan Patel at the Birmingham Bears after signing a Kolpak deal, which means he gives up his right to play for his country and is not classed as an overseas player in county cricket. The South Africa-born 38-year-old confirmed his retirement from the Black Caps after an awards night on Thursday.

VVS Laxman to officially launch his NGO on May 5

Veteran cricketer VVS Laxman’s NGO VVS Foundation, which helps underprivileged children in areas of education and sports coaching, would be officially launched on May 5.

The foundation has been in existence for the last two years and it is currently supporting 90 children and four IIT students, Laxman told reporters here today.
