Umar Akmal creates unwanted record of most ducks in T20s

Akmal, playing for Lahore Qalandars in the second edition of PSL, was dismissed for a nought by pacer Hasan Ali to notch his 24th T20 duck. In the process he goes past the likes of Herschelle Gibbs, Tilakaratne Dilshan and Dwayne Smith who are all on 23 ducks.

As far as Indians in this dubious list are concerned, Gautam Gambhir is in seventh (18 ducks), Harbhajan Singh is ninth (17 ducks), Piyush Chawla and Manish Pandey are tied 12th (16 ducks) and Yusuf Pathan on 18th (15 ducks) to round off the top-20.

BCCI withdraws Yusuf Pathan's NOC for participating in Hong Kong T20 Blitz

Yusuf Pathan's hopes of being the first Indian male cricketer to play for an overseas franchise-based T20 league looked to be over with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) going back on the approval that it granted only a few days back.

The hard-hitting batsman was on Saturday unveiled by the Hong Kong T20 Blitz franchise Kowloon Cantons, and was expected to play a big role for the side in the second edition of the league, which is to commence from 8-12 March. Pathan had thanked the BCCI and the Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) for allowing him to play in the Hong Kong tournament.

Sreesanth to defy BCCI and play for Ernakulam Cricket Club

S Sreesanth will return to club cricket on February 19 as he is slated to represent Ernakulam Cricket Club in a competitive match. This is despite the life ban imposed on him by the BCCI . Sreesanth has been out of competitive cricket since being embroiled in the spot-fixing scandal in 2013. There was more news regarding his comeback not long ago when he wanted to play club cricket in Scotland but was not given a No Objection Certificate by BCCI.

Making his case the pacer was quoted by Hindustan Times as he said, “When there is no official letter stating my life ban then why will the umpires stop me from playing? There have been no emails, courier or anything which states that I am banned from playing cricket.”
