Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge pre-bookings will kick off today. Those booking the device between today and March 17 also get a free Gear VR.
Samsung is all set to launch the Galaxy S7 and
Galaxy S7 edge today in India. With just a couple of hours to the event, booking details for the upcoming smartphones have surfaced online. Mumbai-based retailer Mahesh Telecom says that pre-bookings kick off today, and early buyers will also get a free Gear VR headset.
The retailer has shared a promotional poster which reveals that interested buyers will be able pre-book the Galaxy S7 or the Galaxy S7 edge between today and March 17. These early buyers will also get a free Gear VR headset with their smartphone. Samsung had a similar offer in other countries post the launch of its flagship smartphones last month.
Samsung Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 edge specifications and features
Both smartphones share a similar set of specifications, and only the display and battery size differ. The Galaxy S7 features a 5.1-inch screen, while the Galaxy S7 edge features a 5.5-inch screen. Both are Super AMOLED displays at QHD resolution. It will be interesting to see if Samsung launches the Snapdragon 820 variant or the Exynos 8890 variant. The processors are paired with 4GB of RAM, and the smartphones come with 32GB and 64GB storage options.
On the photography front, they feature a 12-megapixel f/1.7 rear camera with OIS and PDAF, while up front is a 5-megapixel f/1.7 selfie camera. The Galaxy S7 features a 3,000mAh battery, and the Galaxy S7 edge features a 3,600mAh battery with Wireless Fast Charging and Quick Charge 2.0 support.
Connectivity options include dual-SIM card slots (hybrid setup), 4G LTE, NFC, Wi-Fi 802.11ac and GPS. Both smartphones run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with TouchWiz UI running atop.
