The World Championships in Mobilephone throwing took place in Savonlinna on the 18th of August 2012.
Championships were full of great throws and fun freestyle. New world record wast thrown by Ere Karjalainen, Finland. New WR is amazing 101,46 m! Congratulations Ere! Second was Jeremy Gallop from South Africa, 94,67m and he is also a national South African record as well.
Winner in women's category came also from Finland, Jonna Mattero threw 42,47 m.
Savonlinna is the place where from the games origin and started in 2000. Mobile Phone World championships has categories in freestyle, original (length) or junior category (up to 12 years of age).
While Finnish organizer Christine Lund claims this is a new world record, a little digging revealed that Britain's Chris Hughff threw -- as a guest participant -- a 102.68 meter distance at JIM Mobile's Belgium Championships earlier this year.
