Once a famous national-level gold medal-winning boxer, Kamal Kumar is now forced to collect garbage from door to door in Kanpur to earn a livelihood.
Kamal, who has also won two bronze medals in the state level, said he found it difficult to find another job and rued the ignorance of the central and state governments who failed to provide him any help.
"I have 4 gold medals in the national level, 2 bronze medals in state level. It feels sad that even after doing so well in boxing, I am not able to find a 4th grade job," Kamal said.
Kamal added that the government can still help him get a job.
"Even now if the government looks into this, I can get a job," he said.
