Cricket and BCCI are often targets of activists and sometimes even judicial overreach.

From shifting the India-Pakistan WT20 clash to Kolkata to moving IPL matches out of Maharashtra, the BCCI is always in a spot of bother before marquee events.

Clearly tired of this trend, the world's richest cricket board now wants to buy land and build a stadium, reports the Indian Express.

This move was discussed at Dharmashala's working committee meeting and the response from members was excellent.

The first BCCI-owned-and-run stadium is likely to be located in Delhi.

“Yes we discussed this in the working committee with the members. Members agreed that time has come when BCCI should have its own state-of-the- art stadium where some of the marquee matches could be played, be it IPL finals or World Cup finals,” Anurag Thakur told the newspaper.

BCCI will have complete control over this stadium and will no longer have to rely on state associations for alternate venues.

“We will try to make it all weather stadium where we will have outstanding indoor and outdoor practice facilities. It will have a museum. Our vision would be to make it one of the best stadiums in the world,” the BCCI president further added.

The talks are now in the initial stages and the board will soon begin the hunt for land.
