Finally an OFFICIAL announcement! IMPACT Wrestling Expands Indian Broadcast Footprint with DSPORT – Impact Wrestling
“IMPACT!, is broadcast globally, including AXS TV and Twitch in the United States, Fight Network and GameTV in Canada, Sony ESPN and DSport in India, 5STAR and Fight Network in the United Kingdom, e.tv in Africa, MVStv in Mexico and TAPDMV in the Philippines”

wonder why it took 6 days to announce the tv deal after DSport first aired the promo..
Hopefully, someone snaps NXT Takeover rights as well with leaving Sony baffled. Meanwhile 1Sport is airing ROH?

ROH & NJPW are with 1Sports, and Lex Sportel won't let it go.

WWE is still in talks with Sony, Dave Meltzer reported WWE wants $100M tv deal in India, but SPN probably going to offer $60M.

SPN is paying IMPACT $10M per year since 2016, and will pay till 2022.

Is the show still on air as it was on hiatus? Are they airing pay per views now?

$100 million isn't tough ask when WWE is gives you ratings throughout the year. The content is also on all year long.

They are overpaying here. Stars are leaving. Their tv matches are random. Even it doesn't draw ratings like it did a decade ago. Business wise bringing AEW is better for ratings. Then again WWE won't want it. Meanwhile Impact and NJPW should collaborate. Long term investment might pay off in having hardcore base in India.

ROH’s contract hasn't expired yet with Lex Sportel, 1Sports still airs it every Wednesday 4pm/9pm.

SPN must pay $10M per year till 2022 as part of the deal made in 2015! Sony hates IMPACT now, they don't even care to air ads of the show, nor at a fixed time every week. Even in 2018 SPN had stopped airing IMPACT for 2 weeks, then asked the fans on social media which promotion they want to see on TV other than WWE, NJPW won the poll but by that time DSport got the rights to air the show, so SPN was forced to air IMPACT. But since late 2019 SPN again started promoting IMPACT (only PPVs though), and airs it every Saturday nights (still no fixed time)

few months ago Scott D’Amore said in Talk Is Jericho show that the Sony deal in India is their TOP tv deal in 2019 ('cause most of the TOP international TV deals such as Australia, Germany, Brazil, etc. has expired and the channels didn't renewed the deal seeing the state of IMPACT wrestling in that year)

Now I really hope WWE to land on a bigger network like Star Sports and online deal like JioTV or Hotstar (Sony LIV really isn't helping WWE’s OTT growth in India) and AEW to land on SPN and promote it massively across all channels (like Sony TV did with TNA back in 2015) to make Indians aware of wrestling other than double-U double-U eeeh!!

Will Indians appreciate AEW? Their matches are 10-20 hours long with everybody doing same flippity flippity flap. I hope DSports picks up NWA rights. They are so much better than AEW.

And WWE and Star are match made in heaven. WWE is desperately seeking to be somehow associated with company like Disney.

Fun fact Star Sports was the original broadcaster of WWE in India.

Who has TNA now?
There is no TNA anymore. It's Impact Wrestling. Impact, Xplosion, Greatest Matches and Pay Per Views airs on Sony ESPN and Sony ESPN HD. Impact+ which is its streaming platform. It's pay per views will air on DSport.

Those who're bored of seeing same kind of wrestling show will definitely find AEW better.

NWA is old school type, new generation might not find it interesting to watch, also it's a Studio show small arena like Lucha Underground..

Back then it wasn't part of Disney though..
And then in US spike tv was the broadcaster of WWE shows, then it moved to another network and TNA landed on spike in 2005 (also in 2005 Star Sports picked up TNA Impact!)

Yeah, I know it wasn't part of Disney. WWE aired on Star Sports and WCW aired on TNT in India. I think wrestling stopped airing in India with WCW's closure. Then Ten Sports acquired WWE and aired every attitude era event left out by Star. But these were without commentary.
