England spearhead James Anderson is
a doubtful starter for the first Test
against South Africa in Durban. The
pacer complained of a tightness in his
right calf and was later taken for
scans. He bowled only five overs in
England's practice game against South
Africa A.
The 33-year old had also missed a part
of the Ashes due to an injury. His scan
reports will be assessed by England's
medical team back home before a final
call is taken on his availability for the
first Test. Given the nature of the
injury and the fact that Anderson has
not had much bowling under his belt, it
is unlikely that England will risk him
for the first Test. The tight scheduling
and little gap between the first and
second Test will also figure into the
decision making.
England will be boosted by the
availability of Steven Finn, who proved
his fitness earlier in the week. Read more @: James Anderson in doubt for Boxing Day Test - Cricbuzz
