The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has estimated that an increase of 10% in realisations from subscribers — by raising phone bills — may yield about Rs 35,000 crore in revenue for the sector over three years without affecting consumer demand while helping companies regain financial viability.
The industry has also backed a rise in tariffs as an immediate measure that would help put it back on track
Even a 10% hike in tariffs may fetch telcos Rs 35,000 crore: DoT - ET Telecom

What a foolishness goingon.. Why the corporate loss headed on consumers head why consumers suffer corporate loss

Price hike is inevitable. Last 3 years have been the honeymoon period for indian Telecom subscribers, but that's just introductory pricing which was meant to incentivise the subscribers to buy 4G handsets and make the market ready. They can't sustain on this pricing for another 2-3 years even.

Meanwhile Jio is getting the market wrong. Silent validity reduction is rubbing users in wrong way. They could have easily got away with announcement with prime revokation. Users would be not be not mad as they are now at increased price.
