Seventy-six-year-old Sathi Bai, who made headlines in January for not having heard about the Centre’s demonetisation, passed away at Varapuzha in Ernakulam district on Thursday night. Sathi, who had stashed away Rs 4 lakh in old currency notes, realised to her horror in January that her money was no longer legal tender. Despite efforts, she was unable to convert her old notes until her last breath.

"We are not greedy for power. We promised people and we are accountable to them. This government should roll back the prices of fuel or we will continue the protest," said Anil Desai, Sena Leader. The protests were carried out in Borivali, Kandivali, Jogeshwari, Bandra, Kurla, Bhandup, Ghatkopar, Chembur, Dadar, Lower Parel and CST. It was attended by ministers in the current government like Health Minister Dr Deepak Sawant and MP of Rajya Sabha, Anil Desai.

In a meeting at Matoshree last week, Sena had a brainstorming session to decide its future course of action with a major section complaining of step-motherly treatment being meted out to the Sena by its dominant partner in the state.

During the protest Aditya Thackeray said, "It seems all the promises made in the past were false and people want their bure din back. If we look at demonitisation it also looks like a scam. We are protesting because rising prices is injustice to people."
