Delhi's odd-even experiment to return on April 15 for 15 days
The second phase of odd-even traffic experiment in Delhi will be from April 15 to April 30, Delhi chief minister made this announcement on Thursday.
Kejriwal said that the decision has been taken following the feedback on the January 1-15 odd-even scheme when only cars with odd registration numbers were allowed to ply on odd dates and those with even registration numbers on even dates.
Citing the survey carried out by the government, Arvind Kejriwal said that 81 per cent of people of Delhi wanted the odd-even plan to return.
The two-wheelers will continue to be exempted during the phase two of the experiment.
Kejriwal said Delhi has 30 to 40 lakh two-wheelers and if these many two-wheeler riders were to take to buses and Delhi Metro, it would lead to chaos.
The other exemptions are yet to be decided, Kejriwal said.
Earlier today the Delhi chief minister ruled out the experiment becoming a permanent feature.
