Delhi's Department of Food Supplies and Consumer Affairs now accessible via Facebook
In an effort to make its services more accessible, Department of Food Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Delhi, has moved to Facebook. Reportedly it's the first department of Delhi government to open a Facebook account to address public grievances with ration offices and fair price shops. Further according to the report, department's social networking page was launched a month ago has close to 4,000 likes and it claims to have received more than 4000 queries and complaints since its launch.
People can now leverage social networking to complaint any irregularity in fair price shops and ration offices via department's Facebook page. According to the department officials, the new platform has eased the process of communication between the department and public. Utilizing the social networking, the department intends to encourage people to share the feedback on challenges or irregularities in any ration office or the fair price shop. The department has formed a social media group which is lead by an Assistant Commissioner to keep a tab on the complaints or feedback and take a prompt action.
