Danish Kaneria, Pakistan's banned
legspinner, lashed out at the Pakistan
Cricket Board and the England and
Wales Cricket Board after the latter
allowed Mervyn Westfield, English fast
bowler, to participate in lower-level
cricket with one year of his spot-fixing
ban still remaining.
"If anything, the permission by the
England and Wales Cricket Board to
allow special treatment to Westfield,
confirms their bias and discrimination
towards me throughout this case,"
Kaneria told reporters on Friday
(February 19).
Kaneria was banned for life by the ECB
anti-corruption tribunal in 2012 for his
involvement in spot-fixing. Westfield
was also handed a five-year ban from
professional cricket the same year and
three-ban ban from club cricket on
spot-fixing charges. Both played for
Essex in the English County
championship.
